Investing in Nigeria's Gas Distribution Build-Out

Gasland Horizon is developing gas distribution infrastructure across two of Nigeria's most industrially active states, under a joint venture with the national gas marketing company. We welcome engagement from financiers, development institutions and strategic partners.

The Opportunity

Demand is proven. Infrastructure is the gap.

Manufacturers in Delta and Anambra States currently generate power with imported diesel at a substantial premium to piped natural gas. The demand for a cheaper, reliable alternative is already established and measurable. What is missing is the last-mile distribution infrastructure. That is what Gasland Horizon builds.

Why This Platform

Structural advantages

Exclusive franchise

Gasland Horizon is the exclusive franchise holder for piped natural gas distribution across 5 Gas Development Areas (GDAs) in Delta and Anambra States. That exclusivity is a durable moat around the last-mile network that every gas-intensive customer in those zones must connect to.

Strategic pipeline positioning

Our primary distribution corridors are positioned along the existing OB3 48-inch gas trunkline, giving direct proximity to upstream gas supply infrastructure that is already in the ground.

National counterparty

A 50/50 unincorporated joint venture with NNPC Gas Marketing Limited, executed in 2025, covering gas distribution in Delta and Anambra States. NGML sources and supplies the gas.

Contracted revenues

Supply is delivered under Gas Sale and Purchase Agreements with industrial offtakers. The tariff structure includes a defined capital recovery component for infrastructure investment.

Demand-led capital deployment

Development is sequenced by verified demand. Ibusa, our field operations base and flagship area in Delta State, has had the deepest on-the-ground marketing in our portfolio, with audited industrial demand already in excess of 4 MMSCFD, documented through completed Energy Data Forms. Awka carries a further ~2.85 MMSCFD of committed industrial demand across anchor customers.

Phased rollout

Ibusa and Awka lead the current build-out phase, followed by the Oghara-Sapele corridor, with AMIC and Ogidigben in later phases. Capital follows evidence.

Implementation Roadmap

A 20-month path to first gas

Our current build-out phase is sequenced end-to-end, from financial close through commissioning, targeting first gas by Q4 2027.

  • Months 1-2: Financial close, Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement execution, and pipeline access arrangements.
  • Months 3-8: Detailed engineering and procurement.
  • Months 3-9: Right-of-way acquisition, permitting and community engagement.
  • Months 9-18: Pipeline and infrastructure construction.
  • Months 18-20: Pre-commissioning and gas-in.

Risk mitigation

Capital is deployed in phases, starting with our most demand-verified corridors. Supply is underpinned by binding take-or-pay agreements with identified anchor customers, construction is contracted to international EPC firms under performance bonds, and gas supply is secured through our joint venture with NGML.

Policy Alignment

Aligned with national priorities

The project advances the Federal Government's Decade of Gas agenda and domestic gas utilisation policy. Every megawatt converted from diesel to domestic natural gas is import substitution: foreign exchange retained, manufacturing costs reduced, and Nigerian industry made more competitive in the AfCFTA era.
